2023 Toyota Yaris Cross Design HEV Auto 1.5L Hybrid electric (clean) · ML72 VLF

The most recent MOT test conducted on 5 February 2026 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects or advisories. Given the relatively young age of this vehicle, the maintenance trend appears stable and highly positive, indicating that the car has met all essential safety and environmental standards at its most recent inspection. The absence of any recorded issues suggests that the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that meets DVSA requirements for structural integrity, braking efficiency, and lighting functionality. The recorded mileage of 17,571 miles over approximately three years equates to an annual average of roughly 5,857 miles. This is significantly lower than the typical UK average for a hybrid vehicle, suggesting a profile of light usage or perhaps longer periods of being stationary. While low mileage generally implies less mechanical wear on components such as the engine, transmission, and suspension bushes, it can also mean that the vehicle has not been subjected to the regular operating temperatures required to clear out moisture or carbon deposits. The mechanical implications of low mileage are generally positive regarding drivetrain longevity, but they necessitate a different inspection focus compared to high-mileage vehicles. Since the MOT history is clean and the mileage is low, your inspection should focus on age-related degradation rather than mechanical wear. Closely examine the tyres for signs of perishing or sidewall cracking, as low-mileage vehicles can suffer from rubber degradation due to age and UV exposure even if the tread depth remains deep. Check the brake discs for surface corrosion or pitting, which can occur if the vehicle has been standing for extended periods, and ensure there is no evidence of binding calipers during your test drive. You should also listen for any unusual noises from the suspension, such as knocks or rattles, which might indicate that rubber components like bushes or coil springs have aged or become brittle despite the low mileage. Furthermore, pay particular attention to the hybrid battery health and the 12V auxiliary battery, as infrequent use can sometimes lead to discharge issues or reduced capacity. Verify the service history to ensure that time-based maintenance, such as oil changes and brake fluid replacements, has been carried out according to the manufacturer's schedule rather than just mileage intervals. Check all fluid levels for any signs of seepage and ensure the cooling system is intact. On your test drive, monitor for any brake shudder or uneven pulling, which could indicate uneven pad wear or sticking components from a lack of regular heavy braking.
